Why in the world would anyone start an animal sanctuary? That is a crazy idea and a financial disaster!
Despite the critics, those who work in animal rescue and care all share an overwhelming desire to help and take action when an animal is in need. Often, at risk to their own well-being. I really don't know how to live any differently at this point. Yes, there will always be an animal in need and maybe I can only contribute so much but I know I have made a diffence to those animals I have helped through the years. And so it continues...
An Acre of Faith was created to continue this mission of providing a safe haven in particular those small farm animals who are considered "food animals"
It is my hope by sharing the life of the few animals who have come under my care, it will spread awareness of the life they can have if not factory farmed or killed as babies for our consumption.
I was raised as a homesteader and quite aware of the cirle of life. I intend no judgement to my Agriculture friends but do think we all have something to learn and pass to the next generations.
From my observations, a group of chickens is no different than humans social groups from school to work. A flock of sheep and goats all have their pecking orders and social norms. Those cute "Easter" bunnies are not toys and are quite complex and intelligent. The quiet ones sometimes have the most to say,
A mother is a mother in any species and usually will protect their young at any cost, They laugh, mourn, cry, love and experience joy and pain.
And we have been entrusted as their guardians.
I just simply think we should do better. An Acre of Faith is doing our small part.
We all can do something! I encourage you to find your way to be a light in the darkness of injustices encountered along life's journey.
Small steps and acts of kindness have a way of turning the tide.
